    Frequently asked questions

Which age groups is Kuratu for?

Kuratu is designed for parents and caregivers of children aged 3 to 12. All recommendations are organised into four age groups: 3–5, 6–7, 8–9 and 10–12 years.

How are the media recommendations selected?

All recommendations are editorially selected by an editor with 15+ years of experience in journalism, children's media and media literacy. No algorithm, no user ratings.

    Is Kuratu free?

    Yes. Kuratu is completely free.

    What is the Compass?

The Compass is a short guided tool with two questions. It leads to personalised media recommendations and guide content matched to your family's situation.

    Are there recommendations in English?

Yes. Kuratu is fully bilingual. Audio recommendations and podcasts are shown by language — the German version shows only German formats, the English version only English ones.

What makes Kuratu different from other recommendation sites?

Kuratu deliberately avoids rankings, ratings and screen time prescriptions. The focus is on context rather than judgement — and on conversation within the family rather than rules and bans.
